Sinch Closes MessageMedia Acquisition, Forms Powerful SMS Platform
SMS messaging is one of the fastest-growing and most effective channels for engaging with customers around the world.

Cloud communications leader Sinch has recently announced it has completed its strategic acquisition of the global messaging solution MessageMedia. The deal, originally reported to be worth $1.3 billion, offers Sinch customers a comprehensive web-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) suite that is highly customizable and automated.
“With its easy-to-use software MessageMedia has demonstrated how businesses can use interactive messaging services to create a better customer experience. Now that we have completed the acquisition, we have the best team in the industry to capitalize on that growth opportunity”, said Oscar Werner, Sinch CEO.
The acquisition was originally announced on June 9, 2021 with the intention to expand Sinch’s offerings to create one of the industry’s most proficient SMS messaging platforms.
SMS marketing as a practice is incredibly effective. Research suggests that marketing text messages have an open rate as high as 98 percent and are typically read in under five minutes by 60 percent of consumers.
MessageMedia is one of the industry’s top players enabling businesses to take control of their text marketing strategies. The solution offers the tools necessary to use automation to message target audiences in strategic ways that maximizes ROI and accelerate outreach.
Since the company was founded in 2000, it has seen massive growth as a global consumer communication solution. The company is responsible for sending 420 million monthly messages, and a grand total of around 115 billion between 2013 and 2020.
Around the world, its solution is used by more than 65,000 customers located in over 200 countries. Large enterprise brands such as Garmin, Macy’s, MLB, and General Electric trust the solution to help streamline their consumer messaging and engagement strategies.

The completion of the acquisition officially weds two of SMS marketing’s largest platforms. Sinch exhibits a similarly notable roster of global enterprise customers such as Google, Uber, PayPal, and Visa who use its platform. Its leading platform is used by 80 percent of the top 10 largest tech brands in the United States as it enables 147 billion annual customer engagements.
“Mobile messaging delivers tremendous ROI but smaller businesses often lack tools that cater to their specific needs”, comments Paul Perrett, MessageMedia CEO. “Serving these customers presents a tremendous opportunity, and with Sinch we can build a global leader in our field“.
